A new programme will see freelancers and small businesses in Coventry’s creative and cultural sectors offered support to help them improve on areas such as marketing, social media, business planning and sales. The programme is intended to build on Coventry’s legacy in the wake of its year as City of Culture and the recent Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth games.
Self-employed workers and small businesses in the city’s creative industries will be offered the opportunity to join workshops, as well as to attend one-on-one sessions with specialist advisors. The programme is due to begin in September.
The new support package will be provided by the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce through the Coventry Creative Growth & Cultural Tourism Recovery Programme, which is led by Coventry City Council through funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority’s share of the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund.
Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Operations Manager Keely Hancox said: “It has been an incredible period for Coventry and the wider region, with City of Culture and then the Commonwealth Games.”
“It’s vitally important that we build on that success and, so, we are delighted to be able to offer small businesses and freelancers across the sector this chance to access a series of workshops and one-to-ones delivered by experts in their field.”
“The scope for which businesses can access the help is quite wide and includes everything from advertising and marketing through to museums, galleries and visual arts. This is a real opportunity to build on the success of the past couple of years by equipping businesses with new skills to help them grow.”
