The Film and TV Charity, in partnership with MoneyHelper, has announced a range of new digital tools to help freelancers who are struggling with the cost of living crisis. The tools are designed to support freelancers worrying about the impact that the cost of living crisis could have on their income, as well as workers in employment who are also struggling.

The three new tools, which are available via the Film and TV Charity’s website, are a Budget Planner, Bills Prioritiser and Savings Calculator. The first two tools are designed to help freelancers gain a better understanding of managing and improving their finances, while the Savings Calculator provides advice on financial planning and learning to reach financial targets.

The Film and TV Charity said that the tools were being launched to complement the existing support that it offers, which includes support for freelancers and workers in urgent financial need, although it added that it recognised the resources would not provide a comprehensive fix for financial concerns and problems.

Alex Pumfrey, CEO of the Film and TV Charity, commented: “With the cost-of-living crisis and rising energy bills causing grave concern, we want to ensure that everyone in the TV and film industry has access to the best advice and guidance possible. Our new financial tools aren’t a magic bullet to the cost-of-living crisis, but they do offer a greater ability to plan and manage finances and ultimately strengthen resilience.”

“Alongside our existing support, such as Stop-Gap Grants, our Wellbeing at Work Advisors, and the brilliant people at the end of our Film and TV Support Line, we really hope that people working in film, TV, and cinema can feel financially, emotionally, and practically supported during this incredibly difficult period.”
